2 A hamster is an animal that is a part of the rodent family. The rodent family is a mixture of animals like, mice, rats, squirrels, hamsters and more!

3 Hamsters can live one to three years if they are taken care of by their owners. In the wild they can they can live up to two years if they can find food and water.

4 Yes. Hamsters can remember their relatives. Isn’t that cool? Some people can’t even remember their relatives! All Syrian hamsters as pets descend from a wild female hamster that had a litter of 12 in 1930.

5 The first hamster in America was in 1920. No one is sure how it got there or where it came from. Scientists are still investigating it today!

6 Hamsters eat seeds, vegetables, and sometimes fruit. Hamsters can’t eat chocolate or candy because it can get stuck in their cheek pouches and they can get sick.
