2. Our school Wakaaranga primary is a awesome and wonderful school. Our school has a meaning, a special meaning. Waka means our learning journey on our school Waka. Aaranga means the resting place of the Waka.

3. Our school motto is to be the Best We Can Possibly Be! Our school vision is to take us on a life long learners journey and to live life to the fullest!

4. The Maori history. One day the Maori people came to the creek {know as Wakaaranga creek}. They built Pa’s [houses] and placed their Waka in a little stream. They hunted for wood pigeons, pukekos and fish. They gave their food to other Maori settlers.

5. Our 3 school trees can be found outside the front of the school. 2 of those trees were gifted by the prince of the Islands. And were the first Norfolk pines ever planted! The third tree was cut down because it had diseases.

6. Our school Waka has six paddles. Do you know why we have six? Well that’s because if we odd numbers of paddles we wouldn’t go in a straight line, only a circle. The six paddles mean something each. Future pathways, Reflective learners, Cultural diversity, Personal best, Foundation skills and Learning experiences.

7. Other info! All schools have a principal right? Well our principal is called Mr Jenkin. We also have two spare principals, Mrs Warburton and Mr Ashurst!
