3  How long have you been in this career?  Why did you go into your field of work?  Where did you go for your education?  Two – year degree? Four – year degree?  Why did you choose the degree that you did?  How did you get where you are today?  What are your advancement possibilities?  Do you wish you would have chosen a different career?  What is the most rewarding part and what’s more difficult?  Were there any unforeseen circumstances?  What do you see as a critical issue in this field? 5  Career Cluster: Human Services  3 Focused Careers  Child Care Assistant  Nannies  Pre-school Teacher/ Early Childhood WHAT WAS BEING FOCUSED ON

6  Defined as: helps low-income families pay for child care while working or attending school or training  Salary: $20,350  Education Needed: Associates in Early Childhood, Bachelor’s (preferred) CHILD CARE ASSISTANT

7  Defined as: to care for a person’s child/children while the parents are away, although they may also do light housework.  Salary: $26,000 per year  Education Needed: Complete high school, 2 plus years experience with related courses in Early Childhood Development, Health and Safety, and CPR, and experience in day care or toddler pre-school programs NANNIES

8  Defined as: teaching young students between ages 4 and 5.  Salary: $35,000 – $49,000  Education Needed: Associates Degree or higher with at least 5 years and significant experience working with children.  * Interesting Fact: 12 states do NOT support pre-K education. PRE-SCHOOL/EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER
