1 S ECTIONS OF THE L IBRARY FOR R ESEARCH When researching you have several options in our school library. 1.Computers 2. Non-fiction books 3. Reference materials

2 L IBRARY C OMPUTERS You may use the computers for many tasks. Search the library catalog for a book. Use Destiny QUEST to search for books, resources and new book arrivals. Search the two available databases.

3 L IBRARY S EARCH The computers in the library are ready for you to search! Type in a keyword, author, title of book, or author name to search.

4 You may also use QUEST to search for available books in our library. On the top left side of the library catalog search screen you will see “Destiny Quest.” Click here to get started!

5 D ESTINY Q UEST Enter your search in the search bar to learn about the top 10 books in the library on the topic. You will also see new arrivals to the library and if they are available for check out.

6 D ATABASES You can access a database on the Internet. Databases are like a file cabinet of factual information on the Internet that you can search.

7 MISD E LEMENTARY D ATABASES 2. EBSCO Go to: http://web.esc20.net/k12databases You will find these website addresses (URLs) on a poster for you in the computer station along with the username and passwords. You simply type in the topic of your search and see the results! 1. NetTrekker Go to: http://school.nettrekker.com There are two databases available. Try them both!

8 N ON -F ICTION B OOKS We have many non-fiction books to use when researching. Use the computer library search to find a book. The non-fiction section is along the North wall of the library behind the computer station.

9 The non-fiction section is organized using the Dewey Decimal System. This system is organized into subjects according to 10 categories. 000 – General Works 100 – Philosophy & Psychology 200 - Religion & Mythology 300 – Social Sciences 400 - Language 500 - Natural Science 600 – Applied Science 700 – Arts and Recreation 800 - Literature 900 – Geography & History

10 R EFERENCE M ATERIALS This section is located in front of the non-fiction wall.
