Overview SimLab reads the following file classification CAD files SimLab files Tessellation files Analysis input files SimLab uses translate option to convert the Catia file into Step or Parasolid and import it in SimLab.

No manual geometry cleanup required. No occurrence of CAD geometry translation error. For Other CAD systems, a conversion to Parasolid before meshing is recommended. When a CAD assembly is imported into SimLab, The parts in the assembly are displayed in the tree view.

(Example: Sample.slb) It is a binary file. A database can be imported into another database. This will store all the information present in the current database. Graphics Data file This is another format of saving the database with.gda as extension. (Example:Sample.gda) It is a binary file contains geometry and mesh data with topology. It writes only the nodal and element information.

VRML This has faces/edges and some topology information to reconstruct solid brep models. SimLab create features for cylinders and cones during import.

Pressing “Ctrl+S” for the second time will save the database with extension *.slb.1/*.slb.2 and so on.. keeping the first saved data base untouched. “File | Save As” is used to save the database in a new name.
