The Dairy of Anne Frank Written by: Anne Frank By: Adrienne Reed

The Setting of The Dairy of Anne Frank The setting of The Dairy of Anne Frank was in(Amsterdam, Holland) where her family and other had to stay in a hiding room (Secret Annex) above the building.

Main Characters Part 1 Anne Frank was extraordinary was in the way she lived life, hunger for knowledge, and creativity. She was also a moody, sensitive young woman who could, by her own rules, occasionally be mean to those around her, though she struggled not to be. (Anne’s Father) Otto Frank, as a great personally. Like Anne, Otto is a great student, reading books, history, and news, and he shares these interests as Anne. Also like Anne, he is a clown. He has an easy temper he's never mad just calm to calm the state that they are in. Margot Frank, Anne’s older sister is sixteen at the start of the story and eighteen at the end. At least through Anne’s eyes, Margot is smarter, quieter, prettier, and more grown-up than Anne. Her and Anne rarely get along. Margot shows that she is mature and caring by encouraging Anne’s relationship with Peter, and by not being bitter with Anne for having a close friend. Anne’s mother, Edith Frank is not really spoken well her and Anne fight a lot, they always fight over everthing. Nothing can seem to be right. Anne says she is cold and tactless. She is hurt by what Anne says to her and tries and tell Anne but Anne doesn’t listen just blows it off like its nothing. She is also outspoken like Anne.

Main Characters Part 2 Peter van Daan is lazy and is a very weak character. He’s also shy and pretty awkward. Later he and Anne start crushing on each other and they get closer friends and he becomes closer to her than anyone in the house but he disappoints her because he cant show her the love she wanted from him and he states the religion is not worth and becomes lazy and a weak character in her eyes again. They never fights her but just leaves everything alone. Mr. van Daan is Peter father which is rarely talked about in Anne’s diary, except when he is fighting with his wife. He shows his usefulness when the family receives a large amount of meat. Formerly in the meat business, he grinds the meat and makes sausage so it can be preserved. Mrs. van Daan is one person that Anne disliked strongly. She’s selfish, always wants to start fights, and rarely helpful. Her character does not seem to change over time. She is jealous of Anne’s relationship with her son, wanting Peter to confide in her rather than in Anne. However, Mrs. van Daan does have a few strong times but, not a lot. She is generally neat and tidy.

Summary of The Dairy of Anne Frank Anne Frank starts out the book on her birthday when she got the journal. She talks about her family and how she loves her presents. As the story continues she starts talk about how she had to go into hiding from the Natizs. She talks about how she hates living there and how she has to be quite during the day time but at night she can shower and live. More into the story she states how her and her mother do not get along well but her and her father get along swell. She talks about her crush which is the boy living with her and how her and sister are just do not get along, she is always getting compared to her sister which is this awesome person which never does anything wrong. They fight and still love each other. Anne Frank ends the book with saying how she feeling toward everything and how she wishes things would change, no more wars, hate, punishment. She really just wants her old life back.

Student Recommending Honestly I hate reading but this book has open my eyes to so many thing. I just to go through how see how hard it was for her so I can stop complaining about doing chores. This book was so much better than I though it was going to be, I want everyone and there family to read this book. It will make you cry, smile, laugh and some parts relate. This book will make you just want to reach out a hand and help her. This book brought me to tears not like one but as I read the book more came out and wouldn’t stop. This book is so great. Just try it. Its not like you have anything to lose.

Author Information The author of the diary was Anne Frank is was a teenaged Jewish girl. She was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany, where she spent her early years with her parents and Margot, her older sister by three years. In the summer of 1933, the family moved to Holland, because the Nazis and Adolph Hitler had come to power and began begun to persecute Jews in Germany. In Amsterdam, Anne at first attended a Montessori kindergarten and grade school. After the Nazis invaded Holland in 1940, however, she had to leave her school for a Jewish one. Anne made a smooth transition in the new school and was a good student. Her life was hard never take grated for yours.

Question Time!!! 1.Why was Anne Frank in hiding?? 2.Would you have had a different mind set in you were in her shoes?? 3.Who was she hiding from?? 4.Do you want to read this book now? Yes or no? Explain your answer. 5.What has this taught you about freedom?

Conclude Honestly this book has made me look at life in such a different way. I understand how much freedom we have now. I though I didn’t have freedom because my parents are strict but, I just realized there put rules down to protect me. I can go freely where ever I want as long as my parents know there parents but I can go places and not get killed for my relion. I have learned to read more, it gets me off the couch, it helps me understand more and give me new words to look up and explore. I have also seen the movie. It was like the book but words are stronger, and the movie was great also mad me cry. I have just learned to never take life for granted because it could go back to this time where people were killed for being Jews or tslking about your realion.
