10 Combining Two Diverse Projects Step 1: Negotiate, compromise, and find common similarities in the structure and overall purpose of our project goal ◦ Explanation of projects ◦ New mission statement:  To create a learning environment where all students, from various countries, could learn how to negotiate and work together through the understanding of one another’s cultures, due to the increasingly cross cultural workforce.

11 Step 2: Synthesize ideas to create a new project ◦ Educational element and implementation portion ◦ Combining structures to host a multi-faceted event, complete with Model UN, professional speakers, and etiquette dinner Step 3: Work as one cohesive team ◦ One group instead of two separate groups

12 Speakers Challenge 1: Finding Speakers ◦ Who would draw people to the program? ◦ Who has relevant experience? ◦ Who would present at no cost?  Compensation: A free two-day stay Challenge 2: Commitments and Cancelations ◦ Two speakers committed, but one had to cancel

14 Where is the Pizza? Lunch arrived later than scheduled Solution: ◦ Postponed registration and the beginning of the program by ten minutes ◦ Asked Pablo to speak a little longer ◦ Explained details of the Model UN ◦ Provided a short briefing of the day ◦ Bathroom Break

16 Model UN Organization Choose a day without other large events taking place (Chili-fest, Relay For Life, Big Event, etc) ◦ Possibly an earlier date in the semester Registration through MSC Box office ◦ Set up registration fee ◦ Purpose is to create an incentive, not to profit
