How to use it Explain the hats Explain to the team the meaning of the hats below. If people are not used to them, a sheet of paper each with the colors and explanations clearly displayed on them. It can be a good idea to have a little bit of practice first, to help people get used to the idea and how to use them.

POSITIVE Why is this a good idea? What are the advantages and benefits? UNDERSTANDING What thinking is needed? Where are we now? What do we need to do next? CREATIVE What new ideas are possible? What is my suggestion? How can this be changed or improved?

White hat makes you focus on the data available. Look at the information available, and see what you can learn from it. For example when someone says "I think we need some white hat thinking at this point..." it means "Let's drop the arguments and look at the data base“. WHITE HAT ACTIVITY Put your white hat on.
