Historical time period By: Noah Eau Claire

Page:1 Paragraph:1 “He stared, open-mouthed, while Lord Donagh dragged the girl through the entry, past Aidan’s poised broom, and inside.” I can assume that it was sometime in the medieval times because that’s when there were lords.

Page:6 Paragraph:1 “Besides, we’ve had word of Norseman on the move” Due to the fact that they are talking about Norseman, I can guess it is the time of the Viking raids.

Page:19 Paragraph:5 “But ‘tis harder to ignore when fatherless children are born of it”, he added. Since the character used “ ‘Tis” I can assume that this is a time period without proper English.

Page:41 Paragraph:1 When he didn’t relent, she added,“ You know how to read, then? And write? I wish I could. I saw a book once.” I can assume that since she said she hasn’t seen many books, that she doesn’t know how to read, so it must be a time when not many women could read and write.

Page:42 Paragraph:3 “The pilgrims have silver, and they’re not shy of parting with it.” The pilgrims are people who went on a religious journey in the middle ages and before that, so now I can tell that it is in the time period of the around the 500’s to the 1500’s or the Middle Ages. Page:42 Paragraph:3 “My uncle spent his youth as a slave; he can barley provide for himself” The character is talking about how their uncle was a slave and may still be, so it might be in the early Middle ages when there were slaves.

Page:43 Paragraph:6 “They may not come from the Holy Land, but they’re special to me.” The book references the Holy Land which was important during the crusades. So this must take place during or after the crusades.

Page:70 Paragraph:1 “It might be Vikings, Lana, and if we’re not careful we’ll be dead.” The book is talking about Vikings, so it must be somewhere between the 800’s and 1100’s.

Page:98 Paragraph:7 “A dead horse and an almost-dead raider” Due to the context, I can assume that the raider was riding the horse, which means that it was a time when people rode horses for transportation.

Page:150 Paragraph:3 “Kyle suggested a curse”, Aidan continued over the furor. Aidan is talking about curses which mean that the people haven't learned much about science or they haven't had much education.

Page:159 Paragraph:7 “ With the moon out of round, what I saw might not be true, but I think she’s alright.” Since she didn’t say a specific moon phase, it lead back to the last slide talking about education. The women didn’t have education as well as the men.
