2. Homeroom Information Please have your child arrive by 8:05 each morning. It is important that your child has time to get ready for the day. Students may bring a water bottle to carry with them throughout the day. They may also bring a snack to eat. Organization is key!

7. 5 th Grade Spelling/Vocabulary Wordly Wise 3000 Journeys Common Core Students will have Spelling words and Vocabulary words weekly. They will be tested on these words each Friday ** Depending on the week, Spelling words and Vocabulary words may be the same!

8. 5 th Grade Grammar Grammar Workshop- lessons on sentence structure, parts of speech, and more! Daily Sentence Editing– students have to correct the sentence(s) of the day for proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling

10. Homework Each Monday students will receive the “Weekly Update” with their homework for the week. Each Monday your child will receive a Reading Log and Response packet. It must be completed by the following Monday. Students are required to read for at least 100 minutes total a week (at four separate times) and respond to at least 4 prompts.

11. Homework continued… Students will receive worksheets throughout the week- these will help your child practice the comprehension skill of the week. Once a week, students will also be required to write sentences for their spelling and/or vocabulary words. **Remember the assigned homework each night is on the Weekly Update!**

12. Homework Policy If your child does not turn in his or her homework on the due date they will receive recess detention. Your child should always know where to find the homework!
