2 Biography 38 Years Old Graduate from Emory University (Atlanta) – Liberal Arts School Art History Major – Did Photography for school’s paper. – Graduated in 1995

3 Biography Continued After graduation assisted some big photographers in Atlanta – Wedding Photographers Freelanced for Atlanta Constitution 1995 - Began working for All Sport Photography Did photos for 1996 Atlanta Olympics All Sport was then bought by Getty Images shortly after.

4 Biography Continued Getty Images is the biggest archive in the world including… – Photos – Video For News/ Sports/ Entertainment/ Music

5 Average Work Day 10-14 Hours per day depending on event. – Shows up a few hours prior to event – Gets work room ready with computer – Will stay a few hours after event to send pictures to editor(s). Cuts Down 600-800 photos to only 20-25 to send to editor. Exceptions Olympics 3 Events a day 17 Days 18 Hour days

6 Equipment Canon ESIB Mark 4 DSLR Has 8 – 10 lenses worth up to $10,000 a piece. Will have 2 or 3 different cameras with him at an event, all with different lenses. Takes 600-800 pictures at a normal football game on 8 GB SD Cards.

7 Breaking into Profession “Find a Plan B” – Fewer and fewer outlets and opportunities – Fewer newspapers have photographers on staff Use Data Bases like Getty Images or Associated Press To break in you need to be very talented, hard working, and know someone who can give you a break. Networking
