2 CIRCLE PROMPTS  Share something about your break—something you did, somewhere you went-- anything  Think of someone you respect, someone you look up to, someone who think is a good role model. You do not have to tell us who this person is. But I would like you to choose one quality (Brave, Kind, Honest, Hard Working, Strong, Helpful, Respectful, etc.) that you admire about them. Write that on one side of the note card  Now think of someone who do not respect.. What is it about them that you do not admire. What qualities (lazy, dishonest, rude, impatient, etc.) Write that on the other side of the note card  Tell us the best thing you ate over break.

3 WHAT IS LEADERSHIP? An effective leader is a person who does the following:  Creates an inspiring vision of the future.  Motivates people to engage with that vision.  Manages delivery of the vision.  Coaches and builds a team, so that it is more effective at achieving the vision. Leadership brings together the skills needed to do these things

4 QUOTES ACTIVITY  We are going to look at some quotes on leadership: One student is going to read the quote out loud The next student is going to put the quote into their own words The next student is going to explain what they think the quote means The last student summarizes the conversation for the class Everyone then tries to summarize the quote in one word

14 REFLECTION  Write a reflection about the quote. What do you think it means? Why did you choose it? You should write at least 4-5 sentences.

15 ASSIGNMENT  Students will give a 3-5 min long speech on the topic of Leadership. Students will choose one of the following  Students can choose to inform the audience what leadership is or means to them;  they can explain how to be a good leader;  they can persuade the audience to be leaders,  they can give a special occasion speech honoring someone who they believe is a leader. In your speech, use examples of people you think are leaders and explain why you believe they are leaders Use quotes, anecdotes, personal stories or experiences, songs, books, movies, etc. to support your argument  Speeches will begin on 12/4/2015 (For 7 th pd) and 12/7/15 (for 3 rd pd)  Students will turn in an outline and a written copy of their speech on the day the present
