2 Workshop; How to Write a Winning Final Project Proposal Make sure to incorporate the feedback that I have provided on the Unit 2, 3, 5, and 6 projects. Your final project must include the components listed in the instructions. Items 2–7 are headings; list each heading and underline it before you begin writing that section.

3 Final Proposal Workshop Cover Page - Your full name, Agency Name, Date, and the words: "Grant Proposal Assignment-Kaplan University”

4 Final Proposal Workshop Mission Statement (Its own separate page) Executive Summary ◦ History of the Program ◦ Purpose, Population served, and Geographic Area ◦ Programs Offered ◦ Key staff (Just include a description of 2 - 3 key positions and why these positions are important.)

5 Final Proposal Workshop Problem/Need Statement ◦ Nature and Extent of the Problem/Need ◦ Research on the problem (from your Unit 5 project) ◦ Impact of the Need/Problem on People/Communities ◦ How your organization can address the problem/need

6 Final Proposal Workshop A discussion of the Services/Programs that you are requesting to be funded. ◦ List a minimum of three services/programs that you need funded. ◦ You can list each service/programs with bullet points but include a narrative of each program. ◦ Include measurable program objectives that address the problem. ◦ Include at least one OTPS and one PS service. ◦ You do not need to include an amount (but it will help you score).

7 Final Proposal Workshop Sustaining the Program ◦ Discuss a minimum of two ways in which your program can be sustained beyond the grant period. Appendix each item below gets a separate page ◦ Reference list (for sources used in the proposal) ◦ List of two potential grant sources: include name of grant source, website, and one-paragraph rationale ◦ Your resume

8 Final Proposal Workshop You final project must be your own work and it must be written in Standard American English. Make sure to edit and proofread your project and eliminate all grammatical and spelling errors before you turn it in. Proposals should be typed in 12-point font (Times New Roman) and be 10-12 pages in length – including cover page, references and appendix.

9 Points Available Course Content Student provides detailed and thorough executive summary including a mission statement, history of the program, purpose and population served, programs and key staff 0-25 Student provides a detailed problem/need statement that includes outside research on the problem and a discussion of the impact of the problem on the community 0-35 Discussions of the programs to be funded are comprehensive and include measurable objectives that address the problem. 0-35 Discussion of the programs to be funded includes one OTPS and one PS item that would be found in a budget. 0-10 Student discusses how the program will be sustained0-25 Student provides an appendix with reference list and a list of two potential grant sources with rationale for the choices. 0-25 Student provides a resume in the appendix0-5 Writing Structure: Clear thesis statement, complete paragraphs, clear and logical organization throughout, moves fluidly between sections. Primarily student’s own words with quotes used very sparingly, includes several references to support conclusions. 0-20 Mechanics: Uses correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and APA style. Free of typographical errors, double-spaced, 1000-2000 words in length (not including the cover page or reference page). 0-20 Total200 Grading Criteria Final Project - HN400
