4 A “Soap” or “Soap Opera” ( 肥皂剧 ) is a television drama in which outlandish, unbelievable, or crazy things happen.

5 I am certain you have all seen one

6 Today, you are all actors in a soap opera called “Parents & Their Children”

7 A compelling story of the relationships between parents and their children. Full of drama and humor, love and hate, teaching and learning. It offers a glimpse into the real nature of family relationships, and lessons for both the old and young Parents and Their Children

8 Each group will do three things: 1) prepare a scene from the soap opera; 2) present its “soap” to the class; 3) judge the quality of its own presentation

9 Your scenes should about three-four (3-4) minutes long

10 Speaking Exercise - Childhood After you present you scene, give me a piece of paper with your group members’ names (in Pinyin or English) and student numbers one it, and a score for your performance Name Student name (no.) Score=___ One paper from each group!
