Sophia Puertas Maria Vila

Introduction The production of electrical power through flowing water Mountains, streams, rivers, clear lakes

Problem We capture and control this energy with dams, pumped storage stations, run-of the river hydroelectric stations, tidal power plants, underground power stations

Materials Turbines Generators

Data The cost depends on the price of the construction of the dam and power plant equipment maintenenance, and as long as there is enough water to run it, it is only 9 cents per kilowatt hour

Application Hydroelectricity is a source of energy that creates no pollution It is inexpensive, renewable

Conclusion Benefits- flexible source of energy, renewable, low usage of power, lost cost, reduced CO2 emissions Disadvantages- eco system damage, loss of land, methane emissions, failure risks, the need to relocate people Concerns- serious environmental and social problems including habitat destruction, prevention of fish passage, displacement of local communities
