11. Interesting Facts about Gandhi He was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India He was married when he was 13 years old to Kasturbai Makanji. He had four children. He spent most of his time fighting for the independence of India. He led the Salt March to protest against the British. He went to Law School in London. He had a Law Office in South Africa. Gandhi was killed on January 30, 1948. He influenced Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and millions of other people.
