3 How it works When a conductor rotates in a magnetic field, dynamically induced e.m.f is produced in according to Faraday’s law of induction. Faraday’s law of induction states The induced electromotive force or EMF in any closed circuit is equal to the time rate of change of the magnetic flux through the circuit

4 Types Types of dc generators are separately excited and self-excited dc generators. There are 3 different types of self-excited dc generators Shunt wound dc generator Series wound dc generator Compound wound dc generator

5 Why use it DC generators are designed to provide high currents at minimum voltage requirement for the charging of battery and operation of direct current loads. DC generators do not need power supplies or battery chargers. DC generators have no need for a transfer switch because a transfer switch only reduces the reliability of the system. DC generators lowers the system’s the overall costs in major power applications.
