Being Lead By the Spirit Holy Spirit Leadership or Superstitions

Workshop Layout St. Paul changed his direction from Asia to Europe because he was truly lead by the Spirit Open a small discussion about how to differentiate between delusions, superstitions and being lead by the Holy Spirit Divide your team to 3 groups Apply the three measures on 3 Biblical stories: (Exo 4: 1 – 17), (Acts 27: 15 – 20) & (Acts 19: 13 – 20) and define if this situation is a superstition or a Holy Spirit Leadership Apply The Same Points to the practical Case Study. Conclusion: (1 Tim 4: 7)

How to Distinguish between Superstitions and The Leadership of The Holy Spirit The Plan and Purpose of God The Promises of God The Presence of God The Standard Measures are:

Biblical Situations (Exo 4: 1 – 17) ……………………………… Holy Spirit Leadership (Acts 27: 15 – 25) ………………………… Holy Spirit Leadership (Acts 19: 13 – 20)………………………….. Superstition

Case Study It was John’s second mission as a country member to one of the Asian countries. As a team they have been digging in the internet to get as much true information about the country as they could. Meanwhile, they have been praying to be guided by the Holy Spirit in every step they take in this country. From the experience of his first mission, John had a clue about the culture, and he had good exposure too. He himself admits that he has been enthusiastic with every non believer he addresses; you‘d rather say, he has been so impulsive, driven with over expectations and with the idea that he is there to convince people to get baptized!!! And one of the reasons of his disappointment and frustration after the first mission was back was simply because not even a single person got baptized!!! While John was shopping last year in a souvenir shop he tried to preach the gospel to a non believer, who was the owner of the shop, and the conversation started to take a hostile direction from both sides; at that time, John’s focus was to win the argument, no matter what are the consequences of that on the person. John spent the whole year thinking about that argument, he attended many lectures and workshops with this same issue in his mind, he read a lot about how to win people, and he kept that man in his prayers too. Everybody even felt that John now became more mature. After a full year, it was time for John to join his second mission to this Asian country, he shared the subject of this non believer guy in the souvenir shop with his spiritual father, and together they decided that John should go again to visit the shop and get the guy a simple present to show love. Upon arrival, John went to the mall with the present in his hands, but he went to the same place and surprisingly found a different shop, he kept asking for the old shop that was there and kept asking about the guy, but everybody said we simply have no idea, we are just the owners of this shop nine months ago, that’s all we know. Walking away frustrated, he entered another mall to wait for his friends there, and he thought to try to preach the gospel again while pretending he is shopping. He looked at one shop to start, and then miraculously he found the guy of last year he has been looking for.

Case Study He came in just with one purpose in mind: to show the love of Christ to this guy, he prayed and asked the presence of Christ with him, and he started his conversation which took more than two hours. The man was so impressed with the present which was personalized to him, and that broke many barriers between them and encouraged the guy to ask many questions, and the main person who was the subject of this conversation was Christ Himself. The man was so receptive, he even didn’t want John to leave, he offered him a cup of tea, and he sat with him, forgetting about all the customers who were coming in and out of the shop. The man appeared to be a real seeker, he started asking about so many details, and John felt that time that he made use of all his knowledge since Sunday school till the last lecture he heard at church. The guy asked John, how can I know that your way is the right way to heaven, I want to go to that heaven; I don’t want to go to hell. John started telling him that he should pray in order to know, and the guy elaborated more saying, what can make me sure you are right, and here John said because simply Christians see miracles till this day, then the conversation deviated and ended speaking about miracles and supernatural things, which made the guy tell John, Oh, you believe in ghosts and superstitions!!! But John quickly figured out that he drifted and made his focus back on prayers and the True Living God will hear and reveal Himself to him soon.

Case Study What are the positive things John did to be lead by the holy spirit Was it wise to address the miracles approach to a non believer, what would be your answer if you were accused that you believe in ghosts and superstitions!!! What would have been your answer to the question of how to know the true way to heaven In our service how can we know that we are lead by the Spirit?

Conclusion But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. (1 Tim 4: 7)
