How do their names and intended purposes show that the society described in 1984 has been brainwashed? Give three examples of “doublethink” that occur in the first 5 chapters of the novel.

What does this mean? Why is it significant to the ideals and beliefs of the Party? What is this Newspeak word for this?

Use the handouts I emailed you for this: Give at least 15 details from The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism that help you now understand the purpose of the creation of the Party. In other words, why did the Party come to be? Why were these pioneers threatened? What was happening that made them fearful?
