1 Comprehensive Cancer Control: The C-Change Connection Dutchess County Comprehensive Cancer Control Initiative September 21, 2006

2 Originally founded in 1998 as the National Dialogue on Cancer. On March 3, 2004, the organization publicly launched itself as “C-Change.” Launching a focused strategic plan in 2006 History “This is a day of renewed hope for Americans everywhere in the fight against cancer.” President George H.W. 3 C-Change = Sea Change Sea Change –(archaic) a change brought about by the sea –(modern) a marked change, a transformation

4 Three Sectors C-Change is a 501(c)(3) organization of top leaders from cancer-concerned organizations that represent public, private and non-profit sectors – all committed to overcoming cancer.

5 Mission and Vision Vision A future where cancer is prevented, detected early and treated or managed successfully as a chronic illness. Mission To leverage the expertise and resources of our membership to eliminate cancer as a public health problem, at the earliest possible time.

6 Founding Principles C-Change: Exists to accelerate the discovery and implementation of comprehensive solutions to the urgent societal burden of cancer Brings collective expertise and resources to solve issues that its members can not solve alone through a community of leaders Strives to enhance the effectiveness of our member organizations Rooted in the non-partisan participation of leaders from all sectors
