4 WHY ARE OCEANS SALTY? ELEMENTS LIKE CALCIUM, MAGNESIUM AND SODIUM FROM ROCKS IN RIVERS AND GROUNDWATER ARE SWEPT INTO THE OCEAN. ALSO ERUPTING VOLCANOES ADD ELEMENTS SUCH AS SULFUR AND CHLORINE, WHICH IS WHY OCEAN WATER IS NOT DRINK ABLE.
