4  There is 59.83 million people in Italy  Their continent is Europe  They speak Italian

5  There capital is Rome.  They have a lot of important products  Their highest point is Mt. Blanc.

7 December 8 - They start decorating December 13 - Lucy’s day Christmas Eve - They go to church December 26 - in Italy they have a holiday.

8 January 5 – La Befana brings gifts. January 6- The Christmas season ends.

9 Traditional Holiday Foods in Italy

10 The Seven Fishes Meal Started in Naples and Sicily They do not eat red meat so they eat seafood They eat seven fish because it took God seven days to create the Cosmos.

13 Italian Traditions  Decorations  They use a nativity scene.  use yule log and, crepo  Traditions  Christmas in Italy is really about Christianity  They really get presents on Epiphany day  A man named St.Francis of Assisi wrote the story about the nativity scene  They eat Panettone every christmas  In Italy la’ Befana give’s good kids sweets and toys  In Italy they have a feast of the seven fishes

17 La Befana

18  She rides on her broomstick  She wears red cloaks with white trim  January 5 th and 6 th she delivers presents  Befana is the Italian equivalent of father Christmas or Santa Claus  Back ground story  La Befana was approached by the three wise man who asked her to lead them to the stable where the baby Jesus lay in a manger.  La Befana has been an Italian tradition for a long time and comes from Christian legend rather than popular culture.
