What is Leisure? Freely chosen activities that are pursued during non-working time

The Availability in Leisure Time and Money Men in full employment enjoyed on average 46 hours of free time per week in 1999, 14 hours more than women. British people spend more on leisure than on either food or housing. Expenditure on leisure accounted for about 17% of the household budget in the UK in 1999.

Class Differentiation and Gender Division for Leisure Activities outside Home There is less provision for women in public leisure facilities. Old people and young unemployed people have least money to spend on leisure. The professional and managerial classes have more financial resources.
