1 NJIT New Solar Telescope Post–Focus Instrumentation Carsten Denker, Haimin Wang, Guo Yang, Wenda Cao, Jun Ma, JohnVarsik, Sergey Shoumko, and Leonid Didkovsky Center for Solar–Terrestrial Research Big Bear Solar Observatory

2 September 16, 2003NJIT Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research IRIM – InfraRed Imaging Magnetograph  Lyot–Filter  1.56  m filter delivery delayed  He 10830 Å filter requires new polarizers, stuck in NJIT bureaucracy (open for bid, customs broker for Nanjing)  Jun is preparing a paper for Optical Engineering on achromatic wave plates for the next generation of Lyot–filters  Fabry–Pérot Etalon  Extensive testing at CfSR  Wenda is preparing a paper for Optical Engineering  NIR CMOS Camera  Delivered to BBSO in September, tested at Rockwell but no imaging data, yet  Some software is still missing, Wenda will test the camera at BBSO once the software is available  Systems integration at CfSR in winter 2003/2004

3 September 16, 2003NJIT Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research RTIR – Real–Time Image Reconstruction  Delivered parallel computer to BBSO  Acquired a new dedicated 1024  1024 pixel, 12–bit, 15 fps CCD camera manufactured by Dalsa  First science observations on June 10 th, 2003 (operating as a stand–alone system)  Integration into telescope control system in winter 2003/2004  Improvement of FFT and s/n–calibration in winter 2003/2004  Guo is expected to finish his PhD by the end of 2003  Complete system will be available for 2004 observing season

4 September 16, 2003NJIT Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research RTIR – First Results Speckle reconstruction of active region NOAA 10375 on June 10 th and 12 th, 2003 obtained with the RTIR system. The Fried–parameter was r 0  13 cm.
