12. Top tips! WHEN LISTENING TO YOUR CHILD READ.... If your child gets stuck on a word:  Encourage them to use their phonic knowledge or the picture to help them.  Read the rest of the sentence, can they ‘work out’ what the word could be? Discuss with your child the different elements of the story.
