ICT Strategic Leader Forums Outcomes Key outcomes: Improved capacity of Subject Leaders to ensure more effective use of ICT across the primary curriculum Increased awareness of national materials and initiatives to support embedding ICT across the curriculum Description These sessions will provide an opportunity to receive updates from the PNS team, for networking, and for sharing of good practice.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums This session This is the first in a series of four forums over the course of the year and will give delegates the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the tools they might use to assess the progress of embedding ICT across the curriculum in their school. There will be specific input on the effective use of Interactive Whiteboards and an opportunity to determine the particular focus of the three subsequent sessions for each regional group.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Naacemark criteria 4A planned approach to the use of ICT within, and across the curriculum Schools will meet this requirement if there is a clearly planned approach to the use of ICT in other subject areas, as described within the statutory requirements of the national curriculum. The use of ICT will not be ‘ad hoc’; there will be a well defined and understood strategy. This may be represented by the following approaches, but a school does not need to meet all the possible approaches

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Naacemark Criteria 4.1 CriteriaGuidanceEvidence A curriculum map indicating regular [1] links between ICT and other subjects to improve teaching and learning; [1] Long-term curriculum plans showing where and how ICT will be used to promote, enhance and support learning. Long-term curriculum plans [1] [1] Regular in this instance is taken to mean at least termly in the above statements. It may be that the use of ICT in other subjects is being developed in a systematic manner beyond this basic objective.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Naacemark Criteria 4.2 CriteriaGuidanceEvidence Clearly planned activities in curricular contexts where ICT enhances and supports teaching and Medium and short-term lesson plans showing how ICT will be used to achieve subject teaching and learning objectives. Medium and short term subject lesson plans

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Naacemark Criteria 4.3 CriteriaGuidanceEvidence Evidence of the use of ICT in other subjects is available across year groups; Long and medium term plans or curriculum map show details of where ICT may be used to promote, enhance and support learning. An accumulation of evidence showing that curriculum plans are being implemented.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Naacemark Criteria 4.4 CriteriaGuidanceEvidence A carefully thought out strategy for use of resources; A coordinated approach to the purchase and use of resources to ensure that funding is used effectively. Evidence that there is an appropriate procedure for the effective acquisition of additional resources Requests and orders for resources are checked and authorised.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Naacemark Criteria 4 Schools should consider how they maintain such an evidence base. Schools may wish to consider if this is to be the task of the ICT co-ordinator, co-ordination teams or subject co-ordinators.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Common Evaluation Framework Strand 2: Curriculum 2a The planned ICT curriculum is broad and balanced. 2b The school reviews and updates its whole curriculum in the light of developments in the technology and professional practice. 2c Pupils’ actual ICT experiences are coherent, balanced and consistent across year groups and progressive over time.

ICT Strategic Leader Forums Common Evaluation Framework Strand 3: Teaching and learning 3a Teaching is enhanced through informed use of ICT. 3b Teachers’ expectations of pupils’ use of ICT across the curriculum are informed by knowledge of their ICT capability and patterns of access to ICT. 3cICT extends the quality and range of opportunities for pupils’ learning. 3dTeachers identify and evaluate the gains in using ICT in teaching and learning.
