2 Where is United States located? The country is situated mostly in central North America, where its forty-eight contiguous states and Washington, D.C., the capital district, lie between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south.

3 Flag, Motto, Anthem: The motto of the United States is: “In God We Trust”. The anthem of the United States is “The Star- Spangled Banner”.

4 History: In 1492, Genoese explorer Christopher Columbus, under contract to the Spanish crown, reached several Caribbean islands, making first contact with the indigenous people. On April 2, 1513, Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de León landed on what he called "La Florida"—the first documented European arrival on what would become the U.S. mainland.

5 Economy: The United States has a capitalist mixed economy, which is fueled by abundant natural resources, a well- developed infrastructure, and high productivity. According to the International Monetary Fund, the U.S. GDP of $14.4 trillion constitutes 23% of the gross world product at market exchange rates and almost 21% of the gross world product at purchasing power parity (PPP).

6 Famous people/role model: Director D. W. Griffith was central to the development of film grammar and Orson Welles's Citizen Kane (1941) is frequently cited as the greatest film of all time. American screen actors like John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe have become iconic figures, while producer/entrepreneur Walt Disney was a leader in both animated film and movie merchandising.

7 What do you like the most about United States? I like the attractions of New York City the most. Its very bright and busy. It catches your eyes.
