2 What is Health? *Health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being*

3 Physical Health Involves the condition of your body.  Eat a well-balanced diet.  Participate in regular physical activity. (30-60 minutes/day)  Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.  Yearly physicals. Dentist once every 6 months.  Avoid tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.  Avoid unnecessary risks.

4 Mental & Emotional Health Relates to your thoughts and feelings.  Face difficult situations with a positive & realistic outlook.  Express your feelings clearly & calmly to others.  Set priorities.  Use your talents effectively to achieve your goals.  Be patient with yourself as you learn new skills.  Accept responsibility for your actions.

5 Social Health Involves the ways in which you relate to other people.  Respect and care for members of your family.  Have a friendly, open attitude toward other people.  Pay attention to what you say and how you say it.  Be a loyal, truthful, and dependable friend.  Learn to disagree without arguing & show respect for others.
