When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations…seven nations larger and stronger than you – Deuteronomy 7:1

…and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. Deuteronomy 7:2

Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, Deuteronomy 7:3

…for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you. Deuteronomy 7:4

King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive Asherah pole. 2 Chronicles 15:16a

Asa cut the pole down, broke it up and burned it in the Kidron Valley. Although he did not remove the high places from Israel, Asa’s heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life. 2 Chronicles 15:16b-17

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double- edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight, everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13

I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Psalm 119:15-16

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the LORD." He gave it to Shaphan, who read it… 2 Kings 22:8

Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a book." And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes. 2 Kings 22:10-11

Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. Luke 19:47

Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words. Luke 19:48
