TQ-Thursday Cameron has 5 binders that he uses to hold photographs of family and friends. The first binder has 60 photographs. The second binder has 66 photographs. The third binder has 54 photographs. The fourth binder has 48 Photographs. The cost of each binder is $8, and the cost for each page is $2. All of the photographs in Cameron’s binders are the same size. Each page in a binder will hold 6 photographs. If Cameron decides to buy 18 more binders, what is a good estimate of the total cost of the binders?

Ten Minute Math Counting Around the Class by 7s. What is your prediction for the last number we will land on? How many students have counted at 56? How many students have counted at 91? How many students have counted at 126? What is the multiplication equation that would represent 9 people counting by 7s?

Review “Ms. Dee owns a flower shop. She has 54 Daisies to arrange equally in 3 vases for customers at her shop. How many daises will she be able to put in each vase? Use a T-Chart to Solve the problem Work with your shoulder partner to solve the problem. Is this problem a division or multiplication problem? How did you know? What are some strategies you used?

How many groups? 64 ÷ 4 How would you read this division problem? Which problem on these pages (Student activity sheet 16-17) does it describe? Question 2 What does the 64 mean? The number of marbles What does the 4 mean? What if the problem was written like this: 4 )64 How would you read the problem?

How many groups? 4 )64 In this notation, the number being divided appears second unlike the ÷ notation where the number being divided appears first. Ex: 64 ÷ 4 You may want to think of the ) symbol as an array. 64 would represent the array and 4 would represent one dimension. 644 ?

Problems with Remainders 36 ÷ 5 = What is a situation in which you would divide 36 by 5? What story problem can you write for 36 divided by 5? Work with your shoulder partner to create a story problems that can be represented by 36 ÷ 5. Share problems and discuss how you would find the solution to 36 ÷ 5. What do we do with the extra that's left over, called the remainder? Does it depend on the situation?

What do you do with the extras? Solve: 44 ÷ 8 Solve as a class and discuss how the remainders may be different in different situations. There are 51 students going to camp. Each car holds 4 people. How many cars will they need? If 33 people share 6 pizzas equally, how much pizza will each person receive?

Independent Practice Complete student activity Sheet and the following problems on the back: 7. 19 x 7= 8. 14 x 8= 9. 24 x 6= 10. 16 x 11=
