1 California Program Structures: “from Oakland to Sactown, the Bay Area and back down.” Kim Cantrell, Director of Programs California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC)

2 Californias the Tech Act Housed at CFILC = trade organization of California’s Independent Living Centers (ILCs) Most states call them CILs. We call them ILCs. Why ILCs? Because we are California.

3 Program Structure Ability Tools Project consists of: Tech Act Funds AB 204 Funds (California) – Statewide hub AFP funds granted in 2012 – Building FreedomTech Financial Loan Program

4 How ILCs Fit 28 ILCs in California ALL have at least 1 FTE AT Advocate position Funded with AB 204 state funds AT Advocates provide: – Information & Referral – Outreach – Consumer Services – Collaboration with the hub (that’s us!) *NO evaluation/assessment

5 AT Advocate Process I&RIntakeEstablish NeedChoices Funding Advocacy Device Loan Reuse Financial Loan** Reporting

6 AT Advocates Report: Starting January 1, 2015, ALL ILCs provide Tech Act reporting data: Public Awareness Training Information & Referral California leverages AB 204 funding.

7 Device Lending Libraries 12 Device Lending Libraries – 4 are AT Centers – 1 is CFILC – 7 are ILCs Provide device loans and reporting: – Loan data – Public Awareness

8 Other Program Connections CalAgrability iCanConnect California Public Utility Commission: CTAP California Office of Emergency Services

9 Hub Model Connected organizations provide better services and more CHOICE. Organizational collaboration connects people to the most effective option(s) for them.
