2 The Problem?  American kids are becoming sitters!  American kids are getting fatter!  American kids are getting sicker!  American kids are getting sadder! Sears, Sears, & Foy, 2003 LEAN Kids

3 American kids are becoming sitters!  Our world makes it too easy for kids to be INACTIVE!

4 American kids are getting fatter!  At no time in history have American children been more overweight!  Nationally ~ one-third 2-19 year olds  overweight or obese.

5 American kids are getting sicker!  The Standard American Diet (SAD) and increasing childhood inactivity have contributed to epidemic proportional increases in type II diabetes occurring with young populations.

6 American kids are getting sadder!  The number of children on prescription mood-altering drugs (for anxiety, depression, etc.) has increased 300% over the last 10 years.

9 Some Solutions?  Many no or low cost opportunities for ALL children that maximize opportunities to move in ways that are rewarding and enjoyable!  Adults trained to help create these opportunities and model healthy living practices.
