2 Lynn Jones was the local town hood… He was always polite to the teachers, principal etc. to their face… Lynn Jones was the Eddie Haskell of my life. He smoked, was always talking about…

3 …Coach Buller singled Jones out immmediately
…Coach Buller singled Jones out immmediately. I watched in amazement how this kid remained true and loyal to his friends…

4 Purpose: to better learn how the use of money determines our pursuits – eternal riches vs earthly riches

5 I Money is a TOOL (v 9) A. Putting Money to Work 5

6 1 Timothy 6:18-19 “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”

7 I Money is a TOOL (v 9) A. Putting Money to Work B. Making Money Safe
7

8 The rich man and Lazarus… Rich man dies and goes to a place called Hades where he is tormented (Revelation 20:13-15). Why did the rich man go to Hades?

9 I Money is a TOOL (v 9) A. Putting Money to Work B. Making Money Safe
C. Putting Money Where it Belongs 9

10 The rich man viewed wealth as a possession and not as a tool
The rich man viewed wealth as a possession and not as a tool. Tools are useless unless they are what? Used! As long as tools are stored they have no value…

11 II Money is a TRUST (vv 10-12)
A. God Owns it All 11

12 The faithful steward understands that what they manage is literally not theirs!

13 “So and so dies as a millionaire. ” Bible says this is inaccurate
“So and so dies as a millionaire.” Bible says this is inaccurate. Nobody dies as a millionaire. You die the same way you were born = with NOTHING!

14 II Money is a TRUST (vv 10-12)
A. God Owns it All B. There Will be an Accounting 14

15 Shrewd is the same word used in the passage that speaks of being alert for Christ’s return. Christ is coming again and we’ll give an accounting of our stewardship…

16 “…Pharisees are lovers of money…”
Luke 16:14 “…Pharisees are lovers of money…”

17 III Money is a TEST (v 13) A. A Test of Your Ultimate Allegiance 17

18 That we would be as single minded in our devotion to Christ and His Church as the world is single minded in the pursuit of money and things!

19 “Where your treasure is there will your heart be also.”
Matthew 6:21 “Where your treasure is there will your heart be also.”

20 III Money is a TEST (v 13) A. A Test of Your Ultimate Allegiance
B. A Test of Your Friends C. A Test of Your God 20

21 Conclusion and Summary
Want to conclude and summarize all of this by taking an audit of the heart: 1. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior…? 2. Has the stewardship of the wealth God has given you proven…? 3. Are you ready for an accounting…?
