Learning from the Rich Young Ruler  Matthew 19:16-22 – “Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”  Mark 10:17-22 & Luke 18:18-23  Characteristic of this Man:  Young Man (Matthew 19:20, 22)  Had Great Possessions (Matthew 19:22, Mark 10:22)  A Certain Ruler (Luke 18:18)  Very Rich (Luke 18:23)  Religious (Matthew 19:16, 20)

7. Going to the Right Person  Matthew 19:16 –  “Now behold, one came and said to Him”  Mark 10:17 –  “Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him”  Luke 18:18 –  “Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying”

Conclusion  We need to follow the example of the Rich Young Ruler in that we…  Go to Jesus with our questions.  Are concerned about heaven & eternal life.  Strive to keep the commandments.  We need to learn from his mistakes and…  Put our trust in Jesus & nothing else  Look unto Jesus & follow Him

32. Conclusion  Have you come to Jesus that you may be saved & have the hope of eternal life?  If not, why not come now  II Corinthians 6:2 – “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

33. God’s Plan of Salvation  Hear the Word of God (Romans 10:17)  Believe in Jesus (Mark 16:16)  Repent of Sins (Luke 13:3)  Confess Faith in Christ (Matthew 10:32)  Be Baptized in Water (Acts 22:16)  Remain Faithful (Revelations 2:10)  If err, repent and pray to God (Acts 8:22)

34. Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Bread:  I Peter 2:24 –  “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness— by whose stripes you were healed.”

35. Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Fruit of the Vine:  Ephesians 1:7 –  “In Him (Christ) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”
