2   Anarchism  Marxism * Coat Explanation. Value, price, and profit.  Leninism * Lenin, developed as dominant version of Marxism in Russia, 1917 and took effect and realized by Bolshevik party.  Libertarian Socialism  Social democracy  Democratic socialism  Syndicalism Forms of Socialism

3   Economic and Political theory(Mainly Economic).  Production, distribution, and exchange should be regulated by the community as a whole.  Elected government controls all production.  Balance between capitalism and communism. Socialism

4   Karl Marx. “blueprint.”  Lenin expanded off of Marx’s ideas.  Russia adopts Socialism.  Judeo-Christian belief where common good is dominant over individual desires. Creation of Socialism

5  Socialist Economy  Government regulates how much income an individual can receive.  Citizens also have say in defining their needs.  Promotes equality.

6   Government acts for common good of individuals as a whole.  Different classes of wealth, just not to the degree of capitalists.  More monetary freedoms than communism, but not as many as in capitalism. Socialist Economy cont.

7  Supreme Soviet/All Russian congress Votes on the proposal and can pass it into law or deny it. Gosplan: Comes up with general directives/ production goals and deadlines. Add own thought and reaches a compromise with all by process of negotiation. Regional advisors of Gosplan: Distributes directives that are more specialized to the area. Relate this, as well as their own thoughts, to Gosplan. Factory managers and leaders of collective farms: Scrutinized irections to give to workers. Bring these thoughts, along with their own, to the regional government. Laboring classes: Provide opinion.Bring advice, thoughts, and questions to managers. Soviet Lawmaking Process

8  Communism vs. Socialism  Communism  More controlling government.  Very few to one class of wealth.  Violence is common.  Human nature degrades integrity of idea.  Socialism  Less restricted than Communism, but much more than capitalism.  Multiple classes of wealth, but far less than Capitalism.

9  Capitalism vs. Socialism  Capitalism  Individual wealth.  Greater incentive.  Gives every single person in society the chance to strive to whatever heights they can imagine.  Socialism  Government more focused on everyone in general.  Not as much incentive to work.

10   Social Security, Welfare, and Food stamps are examples of Socialism in the US today. They benefit everyone in general rather than a single person.  Publicly owned airports, sports arenas or government-funded universities are also considered Socialistic. Socialism in America
