3 Up till 2011 – Two School Sport Partnerships in Solihull: Lode Heath SSP – 47 Schools (Central South Solihull) Smiths Wood SSP – 33 Schools (North Solihull and Rural South Solihull) 2011 onwards: New Government and new PE Strategy with new funding implications. With the new School Games Strategy discussions began regarding the boundaries of the two SSP’s in Solihull. Context

5 This funding was given to support capacity in delivering the School Games Programme for South Solihull. During the past three years it has been used in the following way:  School Games Admin Support (10 hours per week)  Competition delivery (buying in specialised help to run festivals) £10,000

6 Organisation of Competition in Solihull Secondary Sports Federation (Secondary Schools) Local competitions across the borough all schools North Solihull Primary PE Association South Solihull Primary PE Association SCHOOL GAMES COMPETITIONS (NORTH AND SOUTH) Additional SSP Membership Competitions Additional competitions

7 Secondary Schools pay in 40p per pupil – this generates additional funding £6500 SMBC provides £6000 This funding covers the following:  National Governing Body Affiliations  Equipment  Refereeing/Officiating  Courses for Young Leaders/Officials  Trophies/Medals/Certificates  Roll of Honour  Facility usage Sports Federation

8 Schools contribute to costs (South Solihull £30 per school/North Solihull £100 per school) SMBC £750 to North and £750 to South Funding utilised for:  Trophies/Medals  Event organisation (Athletics)  Equipment  St Johns First Aid Cover  Supply costs (occasional) Primary PE Associations

9  No funding for School Games beyond the role of the School Games Organiser.  During 2013-14 out of 78 schools in Solihull only 7 have not taken part in at least one School Games competition with some taking part in ALL competitions.  In 2015-16 only 2 schools did not take part in a School Games competition.  Over 10,000 pupils have participated in competition.  Inclusive events for mainstream and special schools.  Solihull to host County SG Level 3 Event in January 2016. 11 This funding across North and South Solihull has been used in the following way:  Hire of Norman Green Track for Athletics Events  Hire of North Solihull Sports Centre  Hire of Old Silhillians Astro Turf/Parkwood Astro Turf/West Warwicks Sports Club Astro  Hire of Toilets  Contribution to staffing costs, leadership training or equipment in return for facility usage  Supporting delivery of School Games & Competition Programme £9000 Facility Funding
