“it always tastes better when I help make it.” - proverb of a 7 yr. old

1 Corinthians 7 4. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

1 Corinthians 7 11. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. 12. Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ… 27. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything— all she had to live on.”

Why some hold back from giving all to the Kingdom

1. We don’t understand the King’s call The call of Christ is pretty definite! It’s a a call to lay down: …comforts …responsibilities …family (and their expectations of you)

2. We carry the past into our future. We can carry the past like a heavy backpack of responsibility & rules …that will RUIN God’s best for us. “God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun- scorched land.” - Psalm 68:6

3. We decided our gift isn’t good enough 18b. be filled with the Spirit, 19. speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20. always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. - Ephesians 5:18b-21
