1. Recalled to Life Austin Martin and Bradley Wilkinson

2. Dr. Manette Lived a life of solitude in prison for 18 years because he knew that the Marquis St. Evremonde raped a woman and was hiding his crime. He lost his sanity and previous doctor skills and became fragile; only knowing his shoe making tools and his bench.

3. Lucie recalls him to life by showing him love and compassion and renewing his old love for her, over time. “Only his daughter had the power of charming this black brooding from his mind.” (pg 80) He becomes a strong willed man with a fierce passion for what he believes in because of the passon.

4. Lucie Lucie is a beautiful young woman that has never known her father. Lorry summons her to save her father who has been under the care of Defarge. She is dedicated to helping her father grow stronger and more like the man he was before he was imprisoned.

5. She is recalled to life by Manette because he agrees to let Darnay marry her: like her father, Lucie needed someone to love and care for her. “…I have felt that your life should not be wasted…struck aside from the natural order of things–for my sake.” pg 189

6. Darnay Darnay is the son of a rich aristocrat from France that moves to England, and rejects his name and inheritance. He marries Lucie, and hides his true identity from her.

7. Darnay is recalled to life by going back to France in order to save his friend Gabelle, even with the high risk of being arrested. “…he left all that was dear on earth behind him and floated away for the Loadstone Rock” (pg 247)

8. Carton Carton has wasted his life on things that have no substance and is called the Jackal because he does the dirty work for Stryver. His past is not described in detail except for the fact that his parents died when he was young

9. Carton recalls himself to life by sacrificing his own life because of his love for Lucie and for her happiness with Darnay. “But the glorious sun, rising, seemed to strike those words, the burden of the night, straight to his heart in its long bright rays” (pg 320) His walk in the morning makes him see what was on his father’s tombstone about the resurrection and he ultimately decides give his life.

10. Lorry Lorry was a banker at Tellson’s bank in England, and he was workaholic and a strict businessman. He eventually becomes good friends with the Manettes

11. Lucie recalls Lorry to life by igniting compassion in his heart and it leads to him being a great help to their family. “His own possessions, safety, life, he would hazarded for Lucie and her child, without a moment’s demur…” pg 269

12. Jerry Cruncher Cruncher is another worker at the bank. He is large, but not very smart and is used as Lorry’s bodyguard. He abuses his wife on occasion because of her praying and is a grave robber by night, to make more money on the side.

13. He is recalled to life by his decision torenounce his grave robbing habits to be a regular grave digger, in an attempt to make up for the grave he has dug up. “…an let that father go into the line of reg’lardiggin’, and make amends for he would have un-dug…” (pg 313)
