2  MISD and Midland College cooperate in a dual credit enrollment plan whereby students may earn both credit for high school graduation and credit for college hours simultaneously.  Midland College will be at MHS in the Spring Semester to present Dual Credit information for 2016-2017. Parents whose student will be taking dual credit classes must attend one of the sessions offered this Spring before the student can go through the Dual Credit Enrollment process.  Follow our Twitter page for information regarding Meeting Dates and Times @couns_MHS

3  Availability of dual credit classes is determined by teacher qualifications.  Current MHS Dual Credit Courses include: AP English 3 AP English 4 AP US History AP US Government PreAP PreCalculus AP Calculus BC  Students enrolled in specified MISD courses during the regular school year will also be given the option of registering with Midland College for the corresponding college course. Upon successful completion of the course, both credit for high school graduation and credit for college hours will be awarded for Midland College Credit.  Students MUST be enrolled at Midland College and pay to be eligible to receive credit upon successful completion of the course.  It is the parent/student’s responsibility to verify with future universities to determine whether credit will be accepted.

4  Students must pass the Reading/Writing and/or Math portion of the TSI prior to enrolling in Dual Credit Courses.  A Midland College Placement test is also required for all Dual Credit Math Courses.

7  The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a program designed to help students be successful in college. It includes assessment of students before entering a state-supported college or university.  All students must take the TSI Assessment before enrolling in college for the first time, unless they are specifically exempt by law. (You may be exempt based on your SAT or ACT scores.)  Current Sophomores may be exempt based on PSAT scores for Dual Enrollment purposes only.  The TSI assessment consists of three portions:  Mathematics  Reading  Writing  Certain minimum passing standards must be met on the TSI before a student may enroll in college-level coursework.

8  Midland College offers the TSI Assessment in their Testing Center  Cost is $29.00  School or picture ID required.  Allow at least four (4) hours to complete the TSI Assessment  Results are printed immediately upon completion.
