Priest Institute for Economic Development, a division of the Dallas County Community College District.

2 The North Texas Small Business Development Center (NTSBDC) network serves the needs of established and start-up small businesses in Northeast and North Central Texas. It has 13 field centers and 5 specialty centers that provide services to a 49-county area. Vision To be the recognized leader for small business assistance in the North Texas region. Mission We promote small business success by providing management education. We assist small businesses in creating jobs and economic growth by utilizing the elements of quality counseling and training, community involvement and the leveraging of resources. 3 Economic Impact The North Texas SBDC Region has a population of over 7 million and more than 150,000 small businesses. Working synergistically, the 18 centers and 9 satellite offices have a dramatic impact on the area’s annual economy. In 2004: 2,149 jobs were created 2,790 jobs were retained Nearly $39 million in capital formation resulted from SBDC program efforts The North Texas SBDCs invested 22,069 hours counseling 5,550 clients. 8 International Trade The International Trade Center assists small businesses interested in importing and exporting their products and services. 14 Technology Assistance We offer free counseling and low-cost training on: Technology Transfer Access to the NASA database and the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) for new technologies and research information. Creating a Web Site and Marketing on the Web This series of seminars helps small business owners learn how to create web sites and market their services on the Internet. Product development and the Patent Process All stages of new product development, from the idea stage to the finished product. 15 Licensing TAC counselors advise clients on the pros and cons of licensing, as well as provide assistance with locating a licensee and negotiating a license agreement.
