Flat Roof A flat roof is horizontal or nearly horizontal. Materials that cover flat roofs typically allow the water to run off freely from a very slight incline. They are economical to build.

Gambrel Roof a gable roof with two slopes on each side and the lower slope being steeper; often called a barn roof

Hip Roof type of roof with 4 sides sloped downward to the walls, usually with a fairly gentle slope.

Mansard Roof Variation of the Gambrel roof with two slopes on all sides with the lower slope being steep, almost a vertical wall, while the upper slope, almost flat. Often has dormers. Dormer

Roof Styles Using construction paper, create a simple model of the roof style you have chosen. Include no features on your house. Attach your model roof to a piece of cardboard to make the “yard”. Clearly label your roof style & include a basic description of your roof.
