Hot spot – spot where magma rises to the surface of a plate and volcanoes forms. More volcanoes form as the plate moves over this spot. The Ring of Fire is a zone of frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that encircles the edges of the Pacific Ocean at plate boundaries.
