3. Books The Middle Passage By: Tom Feelings A book of pictures that describe the horrors of the Middle Passage. Roots By: Alex Haley A story about a boy named Kunta kinte. It is the story of his life from his childhood in an African village, when he is captured and sold to work at a plantation to when his daughter is sold. Could provide useful background knowledge for teacher. Reversing Sail By: Michael A. Gomez Tells the history of Africa from the old world, through the middle passage. A good resource for teachers background knowledge.

4. Pictures/Maps Slave Trade, Middle Passage This is a pictures showing how the slaves had to travel during the Middle Passage. It illustrates the harsh conditions they had to endure. This could be used as a discussion tool to get the students thinking of questions. Map of Triangular Trade This is a map that shows the trade routes that the ships had to go through.

5. Interactive Maps These are some interactive maps that could be used for assignment, learning stations, or if a student has finished their work early. Interactive Trade Route Map Interactive Trade Route Map : Includes information about what goods were traded during certain parts of the journey. 6. Videos Assignment Discover: Triangular Trade and Slave Ships This video is a good, short visual aid. It is about 3 minuets long. It discusses the trade routes, what people were chosen to be slaves and why, how slaves were treated, and gives information about the Middle Passage. Slavery in Africa This video is a video that discusses slaves within Africa, as well as slave trade during Atlantic Slave Trade. More about Africa This video gives information about the all the continents on Earth. It then talks about some of the types of people on Africa and leads to a little bit about the Atlantic Slave Trade. It discusses the effects of this on Africa.

7. Letters A Letter From Thomas Hancock Students could practice using what they know about the triangular trade to “read between the lines” A Slave Accounting A letter from a slave describing the horrors of slavery.
