2  Parents, guardians, and other family members help you learn to get along with other people. Your family teaches your basic values and helps you learn to function in society. 1. Evaluate ways your parents, guardians, and other family members contribute to physical and mental/emotional health and help establish healthy relationships.

3  Peer pressure is the influence that people your own age may have on you. A teen with low self-esteem is more likely to conform to peer pressure even if I means engaging in high-risk behaviors or other activaties that go against his or her values. 2. Define the term peer pressure and evaluate the positive and negative effects of relationships with peers.

4  Benefits include:  You have opportunities to interact with a variety of people  You can get to know individuals better at the same time  You may feel less nervous on a first date  You may feel less pressure 3. List three benefits of group dating.

5  If you use good communication skills you will find it easier to talk calmly about a problem.  For example, if you use “I” messages, you are less likely to provoke a conflict by making the other person feel blamed.  Keeping a respectful tone and being clear and organized about the problem would also help you stay calm. 4. Analyze. Explain and demonstrate the importance of using good communication skills in building and maintaining healthy relationships. Give two examples.

Make a list of positive ways you can develop healthy relationships with your peers. Describe specific actions you can take to become a good friend.
