2 Gravity Acceleration due to gravity, on Earth, is 9.81 ms -1. That is derived from a larger concept of universal gravitation.

3 Universal Gravitation Anything with mass has gravity, and is affected by anything else with gravity. The gravitational force increases as mass increases, and as distance decreases.

5 On Earth… All objects exert gravitational force on each other, HOWEVER, the mass of the Earth is so large, the gravitational force it exerts overpowers any other gravitational force. It also allows us to find g as 9.81 ms -2

6 g=9.81ms -2 The radius of the Earth is 6.378x10 6 m. The Mass of the Earth is 5.972x10 24 kg, at the equator. No matter how high you hold an object, it will not be significant enough impact r. And the mass of the Earth does not change. SO…

7 Lets put those numbers in… 9.81ms -2 is obtained at 45° N latitude

8 Any planet… We can determine the acceleration due to gravity on any planet by using the same process.
