This is a very unique novel in that the point of view shifts in different chapters.
1st person point of view is used when each of the Souls tell their stories.
3rd person limited is used in some parts of the book telling only the thoughts and feelings of Mrs. Olinksi
3rd person omniscient is used in some parts relating the thoughts and feelings of all the characters.

Mrs. Olinski- 6th grade teacher and academic bowl sponsor at Epiphany Middle School. She is a paraplegic.
Nadia Diamondstein- 6th grade student, member of academic bowl team “the Souls”, has a genius dog named Ginger, moved from Florida to New York
Ethan Potter- 6th grade student, member of academic bowl team “the Souls”, family farms but Ethan wants to design sets or costumes for the theatre

7. Characters
Julian Singh- 6th grade student and member of the academic bowl team “the Souls”, is part East Indian and part American, just moved to Epiphany, father is opening a bed and breakfast, is teased by classmate Ham
Noah Gershom- 6th grade student and member of the academic bowl team “The Souls”, visits grandparents in Florida and meets Nadia the summer before 6th grade begins.

8. Plot Summary
This novel focuses on four 6th grade students and their academic bowl sponsor. Each 6th grader tells a story that explains how the Souls met and how they know information that will help them win academic bowl competitions such as information about sea turtles and calligraphy. Their team makes it to the championship match. Can they win?

9. Likes and Dislikes Likes
Each member of the Souls gets to tell his or her own story.
The author uses flashbacks to show how the academic bowl team knows the answers to certain questions.
Friendship is important in this novel.
Dislikes
It is a little confusing at the beginning of the novel with the shifts in point of view.
