1 ETAP 653 – Language, Literacy & Technology Group 2 Members: Michael, Stephanie, Hanna, Christina, Jenna, and Bill

2  The ability to find, evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information  Teachers must prepare their students develop their abilities to use information to construct knowledge  Student’s prepare their own questions and ideas to use for learning  Students find the reliability or authenticity of an information source

3 1. FIND: student’s need to develop the skills needed to search and find the information they need 2. EVALUATE: student’s need to learn how to consider or examine information in order to judge its value, quality, and/or importance 3. ANALYZE: student’s need to examine and evaluate information to decide the best course of action 4. SYNTHESIZE: student’s ability of combining different ideas, influences, or objects into something new

4  Restructure curriculum to include multiple literacies  Incorporate a variety of technologies in each lesson  Create small groups projects which will help to develop student’s individual interact with one another  Experience and learn individually as well as from other students  Provide a level of authenticity that helps students develops lifelong literacies

5  Become educated on how to use and how to teach the new technologies  Change the structure of their curriculum and lessons to incorporate these new technologies  Find, review and evaluate a wide array of resources for quality as well as quantity  Expand their classroom to include the surrounding community as well as the World Wide Web

6 Teachers must:  Expand their students information literacy  Provide their students with the ability to make meaning from a variety of information  Reshape their curriculum to include the new technologies  Enhance their students abilities to understand and use multiple technologies in order to acquire, evaluate, and organize information
