3 QUICK TIP Thanks to the modern refrigeration, when visiting Cedar Key you can eat oysters all year around. Even the months that do not end in “r”.

4 CEDAR KEY’S Freshest Catch Oysters and scallops are very plentiful from Florida’s “big bend” to its panhandle, you will find the freshest in Apalachicola and Port St. Joe, where they are harvested. 6 SURF AND TURF: DAY 2 As going farther north of 19/98, state road 358, takes you to a place even less developed then Cedar Key. A town called Steinhatchee. That’s why its called Florida’s “best kept secret”. Take pictures of the stacks of barnacled crab traps, weathered fishing boats, and the grayish colored docks. The life is quiet except during the scalloping season when the locals and visitors snorkel the shallow bay. Throw a stone and a professional tour guide will more then likely show you how to get a good catch. Taste scallops fried at Roy's Restaurant(352-498-5000) overlooking the Steinhatchee River. If you just want to relax and kick you heels back visit the tin-roofed Steinhatchee Landing Resort where presidents and celebrities have done too so.
