Documentation, Data, and Monitoring Section 9 Page 38 1

 Essential Issues to Consider The GBV coordinating agencies... are responsible for ensuring that there is regular compilation and reporting of non-identifying GBV incident data; that this report is discussed and analysed in the GBV working groups; and that it is disseminated to key actors, including the community and local authorities. 2

 Essential Issues to Consider Monitoring and evaluation...  Involves more than compiling and monitoring reported incident data  Reported incidents represent only a small proportion of the actual GBV incidents that may be occurring in the setting  Need to find, compile, and monitor qualitative information about GBV 3

Documentation 9.1. Documentation of reported incidents – Consistent data elements – forms – training 9.2. Data management (reported incidents) – Compiled incident data reports 4

Operational Considerations In the context of GBV program planning, there are 4 options for information-sharing: – Share individual intake forms (not recommended) – Share all data from intake forms (anonymous/de- identified) – Share some of the data from intake forms – Share statistical outputs: Analyzed and correlated data 5

9.3. Qualitative Data Some examples: Results of focus group discussions Rumours of GBV incidents Community perceptions of risky areas or suspicious activities 6

Small Groups 7

Small Group Work Identify at least 10 sources of qualitative data/information and list on a flip chart paper. These may help the GBV team to further understand – The nature and extent of GBV in the setting – Knowledge, attitudes, and behavior about GBV – Results of prevention and response efforts 8

9.4. Indicators Page 40 9

What is an Indicator? Measure the extent to which program objectives are being met Usually expressed as a proportion or a percentage Output indicators count the products or services delivered; such as number of people trained, number of incidents reported, number of police reports, etc. Impact Indicators measure the extent to which the overall objectives of a program are achieved 10

Indicators - summary 11
