2. 2 of 10 What’s the Issue?  The things you build are designed by DPs (Design Pros: architects, engineers, etc.)  They don’t always provide complete designs. Sometimes a needed detail or spec is missing.  Of the ones included, you sometimes see a better solution that achieves the same ends.  Under the current system, you request the missing information or propose a substitution. It causes delays. More info must be generated, equivalencies established, etc. ■

Liability concerns may prevent you from detailing a particular connection.  If you submit a Request for Information, DPs must make sure the information provided is consistent with the rest of the project. But DPs may ask you for a recommendation. And months after designing the project, DPs might have forgotten the performance criteria relevant to the needed detail. ■
